Sold Out Before 1:00! The wonderful June weather only added to the fun at our King's BBQ fundraiser, held June 3rd on the LaGrange County Courthouse lawn. Board members and Farm Place volunteers arrived early to set up for the day, and the stream of BBQ loving Farm supporters kept everyone on their toes. In addition to chicken, we added King's delicious BBQ ribs and the people took notice. The fundraiser was scheduled to run through 1:00pm but we sold out by 12:30! Getting to Know DeKalb County The Farm Place recently joined the DeKalb Chamber Partnership, which represents businesses in DeKalb County, Indiana. When offered a chance to participate in the Business Unplugged New Member Expo, we jumped at the chance! The event was held at the Auburn Atrium Marketplace on in Auburn, a wonderful venue situated in downtown Auburn that features area artists and other small businesses. What a long, strange year this has been! In January of 2020 we could never have imagined all the twists and turns thrown at us because of the COVID-19 virus. The Home We Built is Serving Its Purpose The house we built for The Farm Place has been leased by a licensed foster care family for several months now and we thought the community might like to know more about how the home is being used. Strict privacy laws prohibit us from sharing information about the foster care family or the children who live there. Congressional Staffer Visits The Farm The Farm Place was pleased to host a tour for a representative of Congressman Jim Banks, who represents Indiana's 3rd District. Board members Levi King, Marge Malone, and Keith James escorted Landon Porter through the newly-built 3,500-square-foot foster care home located just north of LaGrange. Also in attendance was Sarah Miller, who has provided foster care for children in LaGrange, Steuben, and Noble counties over the past 6½ years. Visitors Get First Peek at New Foster Care Home The Farm Place held its open house on November 13, 2019, giving the public a first look at the newly-built foster care home in LaGrange. Nearly a hundred visitors came to see the 3,500-square-foot home which features eight bedrooms, three bathrooms, handicap accessibility, a sprawling front porch, and a walk-out basement. Snacks were donated by Foltz Bakery and volunteers served coffee and apple cider on a chilly November day.
